My Top Internet Marketing Tactics For 2009

Another year of marketing online has passed into history and
I can't help reflecting back on the last year and review my
most important marketing tactics. I am doing a few things which
are new, but for the most part I am doing all the same things
which I have been doing for the last 10 years.

Perhaps the biggest change has to do with the social media and
bookmarking sites... who knew something as simple and as silly as
Twitter would become so popular. What's up with that?

And Google has gone totally bonkers... introducing so many new
programs and products in the last few months, it makes your head
spin. Plus, they're doing a major overhaul of its search engine with
Google Caffeine which should be hitting right about now. Bing/Yahoo
is making it jump thru imagery hoops which they really doesn't have
to worry about, Google will probably only get stronger in the
coming months.

Bing has an outside change of becoming a verb but don't hold
your breath. Unless it becomes embraced by the surfing public
which is still a very unpredictable variable in the whole dynamic
of marketing online.

Anyway, if you want to view my top Internet Marketing Tactics which
I used in 2009 - you can find them explained in great detail in
the link below:

o My Top Marketing Tips For 2009

o Google's Adwords Top Tactics For Tough Times

o 20 Clever Conversion Magnets

o How To Find The Best Internet Marketing Training

.......

Hi {!firstname_fix}, as we start the new year
I thought it would be helpful to give you some
marketing tips. Some of these tips come directly
from my own experiences as a full-time online
marketer. Last year was my best year online yet
(what recession?) and I am hoping 2009 will be
just as good. These marketing tactics work for
me and they should also work for you.

Other tips come directly from Google and other
online marketers who I study and follow to improve
my own marketing. Perhaps my best advice would be
this: find the top online marketers and stick to
them like glue!

Here are some of my own marketing tips:

o Make Keywords Your #1 Goal

This is the single most important factor for
my own online success. You have to make keywords
and ranking high for them in all the search engines
your main objective if you're marketing online.
Might sound obvious, but many beginning marketers don't
truly understand how important getting top rankings
for your chosen keywords will be in your online
succsss.

Target less competitive long tail (multi-worded)
keywords to get started and slowly work your
way up to more popular keywords. Center your
marketing around getting those first page listings
(Top Five) for your keywords. Achieve this goal,
(especially in Google) and it will be almost
impossible for you not to succeed and make
a profit with your online marketing.

o Autoresponders, List Building & Online Relationships

Keeping in contact with potential buyers is mission
critical. You must use autoresponders to send follow-up
messages to build trustful relationships with your
potential customers. Establishing this personal contact
or trust is very important because the Internet is
still a cold and distrustful environment for most people.

So building a large contact list is essential. That's
why the social networks such as Twitter, Facebook,
MySpace can be very effective marketing tools for
building this online contact and trust. Truth be told,
all these social networks are, more or less, just
glorified autoresponders!

o Your Unique Selling Position

You must give potential customers some very good
reasons for them to buy from you or your links.
Offering special bonuses and discounts works
wonders for your sales. Some of my most successful
pages simply consists of coupons and discounts
offered by different companies. If buyers can
save $100's OFF by buying thru your links, they
will.

Always remember, besides looking for the best
deal or bargain, consumers are looking for a
quality product. If you're into affiliate marketing,
only pick top quality products to promote.
Consumers are also looking for INFORMATION on
the products they are considering buying, give
them helpful information and you will succeed.

o Find A Niche You Enjoy

There are millions of profitable niche markets
you can choose from - pick one that truly interests
you and run with it. Your favorite hobby or something
you enjoy doing in your spare-time. Picking a niche
market that you like is a key factor, you won't mind
spending your time exploring and exploiting it.
Just won't seem like work because you will be
having fun while you do your marketing.

o Go With The Flow

If you're marketing online, you have to follow what's
working for you. Most times you will try countless
ideas or tactics - once you have found a process or
system that works, really work it or scale it up.
Making your first dollar is the hardest, but once
you do something that earns you that dollar,
just repeat that "something" a thousand times.

Tracking what works is very important so keep a
close eye on your site's traffic logs to find where
your customers are coming from. Something like
Google Analytics is simply priceless for "fine-tuning"
your site and your online marketing. It will tell
you find what's working and what's not.

o Automate Everything

The real beauty of marketing online and using computers...
you can automate just about every process in your marketing
system. Make it a point of automating everything you do...
use autoresponders to follow-up with potential buyers, use
automatic check-outs, automatic reporting... just set-up your
whole online marketing system that runs itself with little
or no supervision from you. This will free up your time to
concentrate all your efforts on marketing or promoting your
site or product.

...........

o Google's Adwords Top Tactics For Tough Times

I do some PPC but my monthly budget is only around
a couple of thousand so I am not a PPC expert. I just
use it to make extra sales and to bring in more traffic
to my sites. I use Google Adwords, Yahoo Marketing
and MSN Adcenter.

Now, if you're using Google Adwords, you probably
received a small booklet from Google entitled
"Google's Adwords Top Tactics For Tough Times."
In it Google lays out 6 Adwords Tactics for tough times...
but some of these tactics can be used for your
general marketing online.

These tactics include: (quoting directly from the
mail-out)

1. Focus your ads on low prices and savings.

2. Use Value-related keywords.

3. Ensure your ad groups are targeted and relevant.

4. Don't waste money on irrelevant clicks.

5. Make it easy for customers to buy.

6. Focus your money on your high-performers.

o How To Find The Best Internet Marketing Training

Of course, like everyone who tries Online Marketing,
I had to learn my trade. In order to really learn how
all this stuff works: you have to find successful marketers
and follow or model what they're doing. I had some
very good help from the very beginning.

This simple tactic that has worked wonders for my own

important marketers who has helped me the most,
especially when I was just getting started.

your site, or just getting more traffic and sales...

How To Get Your Articles Published Online & In Ezines
Copyright © 2007 Titus Hoskins

Using articles to boost your traffic and sales is one of
the most effective online marketing strategies you can use.
Why you ask? Mainly because articles are the ideal marketing
tools for promoting any website or business.

But you must do this right, you just can't throw a few
words together on a webpage and expect things to happen.
To effectively use articles as marketing tools you must
follow some simple procedures and practices in order to
get your articles published online and in ezines. So here
are some simple article marketing tips you can try.

Why Articles Work

Before we start, you must understand why articles are
so crucial to your marketing in the first place. You must
truly understand why and how articles work so effectively
as marketing vehicles in our newly wired world. It all boils
down to one word... information.

The main reason articles work is information. The whole
Internet is based on information. People use the web to
access information and your well written article can help
satisfy this need. You must place your article squarely
into this whole information cycle.

Your article must be informative and provide some benefit
to the reader. Tips, advice, how-to... your reader should
gain something from spending a few minutes reading your
article. The more beneficial your article, the more popular
it will become and you will have a better chance of getting
it published.

Title & Keywords

Your article title should contain two vital elements:
Keywords and Benefits. Your title must contain your
keywords or keyword phrases, these are the exact words
someone types into the search engines to find what
they are looking for on the web.

To find profitable keywords many professional marketers
use keyword research software like Keyword Elite but you
can also use free keyword suggestion tools like WordTracker
or Overture:
WordTracker

I find short catchy titles are best for capturing the
reader's attention. With our split second surfing habits,
the title may be your only chance you get to hook your
readers and keep them on your page. Another tactic is
to make all your articles easily scanable with your
main points highlighted for quick absortion.

Length

Most experts suggest you keep your articles short, in
the 500 - 700 word range. Many authors/marketers use
even shorter formats in the 200 - 300 word range in order
to fit neatly on webpages.

I personally have found my more meatier articles in the
900 - 1200 word range have worked the best for me and
seems to get featured in important ezines like Addme,
SiteProNews... more often than shorter articles.

Submission

You must distribute your articles on the web. You can
personally submit your articles to the many article
directory sites on the web or you can purchase a service
which does this for you. I do both.

I personally submit my articles to the major high PR6
or PR7 sites which display my articles. I have found
articles placed on Ezinearticles.com, Buzzle.com,
Goarticles.com, Articlealley.com, Promotionworld.com,
Thumbshots.org, Site-reference.com, Ideamarketers.com,
Selfgrowth.com... do extremely well.

I have also found using a paid online service like
SubmitYourArticle is really helpful, especially when
I am on vacation or away from my computer for any
length of time. I also use this service to quickly
write different versions of my articles for the best
search engine optimization. Using different lengths
as many webmasters will only publish short articles.

Resource Box/Anchor Text

Your resource box is at the end of each article and
this is where you place URLS for those all important
One-Way links back to your site. Many marketers are
careful to place their targeted keywords and variations
in the anchor text of their links. It is also a good
idea to provide some benefit or free gift to enhance
your 'call to action' and improve your chances of
getting that all important click.

Be Consistent

I have found a steady supply of fresh articles on a
regular basis works the best. These articles keep your
site or products fresh in the search engines and in
front of your potential customers and editors/webmasters
who publish your content. Try for at least two articles
per week.

Own List of Editors

Along the same lines, build your own opt-in list of
editors and webmasters who have opted in to receive
your latest articles. Send a copy of your article to
these interested parties and you will increase your
chances of getting your articles published. I also
kickstart my newest articles by including them in
my own ezines and blogs.

Autoresponders

Many marketers place their articles in autoresponders
so anyone requesting your article can easily use email
to retrieve it. Many marketers also use RSS feeds to
distribute their articles. If doing your own feeds seems
too complicated, then just use any of the major article
directories like Ezinearticles which will supply you with
a convenient RSS feed for your articles.

Spam Check Your Articles

I always make it a point of testing my articles for any
words or phrases that will trigger the spam filters and
block my articles. This is extremely important if you want
your article to be featured in ezines and newsletters. I
check my articles with my Aweber autoresponder service but
you can use a free SpamCheck service offered by SiteSell:

Personality

Articles that show some originality and personality
have worked the best for me. Showing and telling your
own story and experiences in a light hearted way seems
to work really well in the somewhat impersonal online
world. Having a sense of humor also helps, try to make
your articles entertaining as well as informative and
your articles will be picked up more often.

Conclusion

Writing unique informative articles is one of the most
effective ways to market on the web. Remember to keep
your articles informative, personable, keyword rich,
short and to the point. Take a pro-active approach to
promoting your articles: submit them to the major online
article directories, send them to editors and webmasters
who request content from you and place your articles on
your site, in your blogs and RSS feeds.

Used properly, articles can be effective marketing tools
for boosting both your traffic and sales. Perhaps the best
part of all, article marketing is completely free. What
more can you ask for?

o Internet Marketing Reality Show!
-------------------------------------

Guess it just had to happen!

I really debated if I wanted to tell you about this next
item. Lately, I am being turned off by all the hype
surrounding the IM Internet Marketing Community. Just
seems like one hyped program or product being launched
one after the other - without any breaks!

If you're keeping your eye on what's happening in the
Internet Marketing arena - I run two sites on IM so
I have to wade neck deep in all this stuff every day,
you start to wonder if it's more hype than substance.

Now comes this:

The First Internet Marketing Reality Show!

Actually I am a big reality show fan, I like Amazing
Race - wouldn't miss it. Same with Survivor. I also
find myself drawn to all these Real Estate shows -
selling/buying houses... A Place In The Sun is one
of favorite shows... maybe I have an unconscious
longing for Beachfront Property in the Tropics.

But a Reality Show On Internet Marketing - makes you
want to give Donald Trump a Rosie!

A reality show on Internet Marketing - can this fly?

I wouldn't bother with this at all except it's coming
from Joel Comm. Joel has a long history of making a
few bucks from the web.

After all, he is the co-creator of Yahoo! Games, which
he sold to Yahoo! for over $1,000,000.

He knows what he's doing and he has surrounded himself
with some of the best names in web marketing:

Mark Joyner
Armand Morin
Marlon Sanders
Jeff Johnson
Mike Filsaime
Rich Schefren
Perry Marshall
Brad Fallon
Jeff Walker
Mike Koenigs
Dave Taylor
Ray Edwards

These guys are not just doing a teleseminar. They will be
traveling and joining Joel ON LOCATION of the film set in
Colorado to be intimately involved with the show.

Yes, thousands of aspiring entrepreneurs will be
competing for a $25,000 cash prize and an opportunity
to become Joel's next joint venture partner, potentially
earning a huge chunk of money!

This show/site launches this Wednesday, May 9 at 10 am EST.
And I reluctantly recommend you check it out!
