In the daily routine of running two websites on
Internet marketing tools I usually keep my eyes
open for any new marketing tools. Lately, there
have been a few notable marketing tools which
I believe could greatly impact your online
marketing.

I discovered long ago that it is sometime wise to
take a very broad view when defining 'marketing
tool'. It doesn't always mean a software program
or product... it can be something as simple as a
resource box at the end of your online articles.

Internet marketing tools can have many different
facets - it can take many shapes and forms. It can
be something so simple, yet so effective, you wonder
why you hadn't tried it before.

In this light, here are some relatively new marketing
tools which every webmaster or online marketer should
be using or at least know about. Chances are your
competitors are probably already jumping all over
these.


1. Social Bookmarking

The web is changing before our eyes. Right here
right now as that old song goes. No surprise there,
blogs, blogging and RSS feeds are transforming the
web as you read this.

Sites like Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Squidoo...
are dominating the web. They have everyone's attention.
Everyone's using them.

You must connect your site or content with this
popular trend. You should have at least one blog
and RSS feed attached to your site. Use a free software
program like WordPress if you're stuck. I use WordPress
on all my sites, mainly because it brings in traffic
but more importantly for SEO reasons.

Another very simple way to take advantage of the
whole bookmarketing scene is to use a social bookmarking
system with your online content. I have found
using the "AddThis.com" bookmark system on my pages
lets my visitors bookmark my content for me in all
the social bookmarking sites!

This is a simple piece of code that allows visits
to socially bookmark your content for you! A simple
marketing tool that will increase your traffic and build
links automatically. What more can you ask for?

2. Blogging And RSS Feeds

As mentioned above, you must take advantage of the
blogging trend. WordPress is a very good system
and is easy to install. I have it on all my sites
mainly because like all marketers, much of my online
marketing is 'keyword marketing'.

Each category you create in WordPress will be considered
your keyword phrase. More posts/entries you make
in this category, the faster your keywords will
rise in the search engine rankings for those keywords.

As we have seen with MSN Live or Google Blog search
your entries will quickly rise to the top of Search
results. It can also help in regularly getting your
site indexed by all the major search engines.

One new program which has caught my eye is John Reese's
BlogRush. It's a free viral program that lets you
place your blog postings or headlines on other
people's blogs. Jury is still out on this one,
but it is worth looking into since it is another
easy way of distributing your content.

3. Video And Audio

Let's face it, video is taking over the web. Your
online marketing should reflect that fact. You should
have videos on your sites... either ones you make
yourself or ones from your affiliate programs.

Videos do work - I use SBI videos on my site and
these are the most popular downloads. People expect
to deal with video now, they want to hear your
sales pitch from a video, ideally with you speaking
directly to them.

Needless to say, this is an effective marketing
method or tool you should be using. Videos will
increase your sign-up rates and your sales.

Many marketers have trouble producing videos and
audio for their sites but now Simon Grabowski (GetResponse)
and Implix has just released TalkStream.

"TalkStream is an Audio and Video streaming tool that merges
21st century technology with your existing marketing to add
a whole new dimension to it."

Basically TalkStream makes it easy for anyone to place
audio and vedio on their site or sites. Video is transforming
the web and also online marketing. TalkStream is a handy
tool that makes that transformation a whole lot simpler.

Implix has given us such popular programs as GetResponse
and WebsiteWizard. Now comes TalkStream which will no
doubt prove as popular mainly because every webmaster
needs a simple way to place audio and video on their

4. Peel Away Ads

Don't laugh, in marketing the simple stuff works the best.
Remember when Pop-in and Slide-in ads or boxes starting
appearing on all those websites - only ones laughing
then where the webmasters making all those sales and
collecting all those e-mail addresses of their site's
visitors.

Simple programs like Pop-ins are effective ways of
increasing your sign-ups or clickthru rates. They
work. Now we have PeelAwayAds.

I was so impressed with these simple ads - I had to
try it. And I am in the process of putting them on all
my sites. It's just a little something extra you can
do to increase your sign-up rates and click-thrus...

5. Affiliate Elite

This one is not released yet, but I thought I would
give you a head-start!

Affiliate marketing online has become BIG business.
Big as in billions and billions of dollars are exchanging
hands. As a full-time affiliate marketer (I earn a
very comfortable living with affiliate marketing and
ad revenue from my sites) I have first-hand experience
with affiliate marketing and dealing with all the major
affiliate networks like Commission Junction, LinkShare,
Affiliate Window, Shareasale... each day.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to earn money online
in a very passive, automatic way.

How to get people to read your ads is one
of the major problems in online marketing.

Visitors and surfers are becoming very tired
of the methods marketers use to get their
attention. Anyone who has used Pop-ins,
Slide-ins ads know how much more effective
they are in getting your visitor's attention
Pop-ups, Pop-ins do work.

I have used Pop-ins for years and know how much
better they are in getting subscribers, leads
and sales than just the ordinary webpage. But
these types of ads are becoming a little old
and tiresome. And everyone is using them.

Years ago, one of the first people I encountered
when starting my exploration of the whole
online marketing scene was Neil Shearing.

Lucky me!


At the time, I was very skeptical and very cynical
about Internet Marketing. Actually I was very
cynical about the whole Internet thing since the
Internet was also very new and I didn't really
believe anyone could make a few bucks on here,
never mind a full-time wage.

It wasn't easy but I loved every minute of it. I
liked finding out what works and what doesn't. I
also liked sorting out the BSers from those who
really knew what they were talking about. After
awhile you develop an instinct for spotting the
real "McGoys"!

Every now and then, someone would pop up that
totally knew their stuff. Knew how Internet marketing
really worked. Knew how marketing really works.

Neil Shearing was one of those marketers.

I learned a lot from him. I am still learning.
