How To Monetize Your Web Content

If you have a website, you have probably considered how
you could make money from it? How to monetize your web
content?

Even if you're not into web marketing and just want to
earn some revenue to pay for your hosting and traffic costs.
Simply slapping a few Google Adsense ads on your content
will probably satisfy most of these webmasters since they
are extremely simple to use and Google does pay on time.

However, that's just for starters, they are countless ways to
earn revenue or ways to monetize your content as long as you
have quality traffic. Most of these are just as simple but
they pay much more of the percentage back to you.

As a full time marketer, this is a question I have considered
and tested for years. My findings are very simple and these
companies do paid their commissions. Again, just some simple
programs to use to monetize your web content.

You can find my whole list here:

o Creating Multiple Income Streams With Your Site

0 My First Affiliate Check Was $5

o SBI - Halloween Sale - $100 for Second Site

.......

As I directly help some of my readers and a
close relative with establishing an online site
or business - one question is always at the back
of my mind.

How can I help them set up or create multiple streams
of income from their site or sites?

It is something I have successfully done with my
own sites and it is one of the reasons I can work
full-time online enjoying all this marketing stuff.
As the world's economic situation goes further south,
I believe creating multiple sources of online revenue
will play a greater role in what Internet Marketers do...

But just how do you go about setting up these income
streams is the main topic of this newsletter. Hope you
can at least skim thru it - some of these ideas might
also help you with your own online marketing.

First and foremost the key to any kind of online
revenue is traffic - without traffic it is extremely
hard, if not impossible, to build your income or
business. After over 10 years of being online,
I have found the TWO main factors in getting good
quality online traffic are: Keywords & Quality Content.

You must target the right keywords for your site,
the ones everyone is typing into the search engine
to find your topic or niche. I always tell those building
a site to use this link if they don't have professional
keyword research software like Keyword Elite:

Keyword Research Tool

This site will give you a rough estimate of which
keywords everyone is using. But you must not ignore
long-tail keyword phrases because these longer keywords
convert better and bring in higher quality (buying)
traffic - you just don't want visitors, you want
buyers.

Quality content is the other major factor - you
must create quality, useful content that your
visitors will seek out and share with their
friends. Great content will give you the
traffic you need.

Once you have a steady flow of quality traffic coming
to your site - it is almost impossible NOT to earn
revenue from your site. If you're selling your own
product, you will have a steady flow of interested
potential buyers. If you have an affiliate site, you
will also have a steady flow of interested buyers
to send to your affiliate links.

Now once you have the traffic, here are some
ways you can monetize this traffic to create
multiple streams of income:

(I am starting with the lowest streams to
the most beneficial streams. This is from my
own findings, you may have totally different
outcomes from mine.)

Google Adsense - This is one of the easist ways
to monetize your traffic but I find I can make
10 to 100 more by using affiliate programs
or links. Now, I still use Google Adsense
on my sites because it is almost impossible
to find affiliate links for all my pages on
all my sites. Besides, Google Adsense is one
revenue stream I have enjoyed for over three
or four years now - its very steady and solid.
I also like getting paid by Google!

Amazon - This is another easy way to create
an income stream from your content or site.
I find building links and aStores in Amazon
for my affiliate products to be quick and easy.
Amazon links convert very well, mainly because
I believe customers are very comfortable
using and buying online from Amazon. However,
Amazon doesn't pay that much... but comissions
build up quickly. Like Adsense, this is a very
steady and solid source of online income.

LinkShare - This is an affiliate Network which
handles thousands of companies. You sign up
with LinkShare and you can promote hundreds
of different companies or products with your
site. Each companies will have different commission
rates... around 3% to 10% or more. Another very
professional network you can use to set-up an
income stream on your site.

Clickbank - This is the program you have to
have if you're selling digital products online.
Very professionally run program and commission
rates are very high, usually around 50% or more...
which means if you sell a $200 product, you
earn $100 per sale. Pays every two weeks and
another very steady source of income.

Commission Junction - This is one of my favorite
programs and it's the one I have worked the most.
Some marketers have complained about the low
rates and poor reporting... but I find CJ an
excellent source of income for me. Very steady
and solid monthly checks over the last 3 or 4
years.

Residual or Recurring Income - These are the
best revenue streams to create on your site.
Make one sale and get paid month after month
for years. I spend the majority of my online
marketing efforts on these types of programs...
some examples would be service oriented programs
like auto-responder, utilities services and
web-hosting affiliate programs which pay you
commissions month after month once you sign-up
a client. SBI or SiteBuildIt affiliate program
has been one of my most promoted program on my sites.
Once customers sign-up to SBI and see the kind of
quality service they get - they keep it form years...
and a great affiliate program run by Ken Evoy.

Independent Affiliate Programs - Once you
have established your site or sites online,
other more lucrative income streams will
present themselves to you. Companies may
approach you to set up partnerships or
special affiliate deals. Some of my best
income streams are ones where I have made
special arrangements so that I get residual
income from each client that signs up thru
my affiliate link for the LIFE of that client.

Now, I have other income streams but these
are the major ones I use. So far these have
served me very well even as we are entering
some very uncertain economic times. Over
the years, certain income stream have dried
up, the company goes under or changes its
online marketing... but I just keep replacing
those with other streams.

Some final notes...

One key factor that I have not mentioned and
which can be another great source of income
are your contact opt-in lists... promoting
a product or products to your list has always
been an income source for most marketers -
including me. I also use a lot of follow-up
emails on the different products I promote
online... which increases my conversion rates.

Picking quality big brand name products and
companies will increase your sales numbers...
I have had success with promoting Dell, HP,
Toshbia, Sony... buyers feel comfortable
buying these brand names online rather than
unknown products or companies. So choose the
products you promote carefully.

Use your time wisely, allocate your energies
or marketing efforts to the revenue streams
that bring in the biggest paychecks... especially
concentrate your efforts on residual and recurring
income programs since this will build up your
security - if you lose all your sites tomorrow,
those revenue streams will keep paying you
for your past marketing success.

One final, final note - don't expect to create
a site one day and have multiple income streams
flowing the next day. Some marketers promise this, but
for me it has been a long steady building process
over several years. You start with your first
dollar and go up from there... steadily increasing
month after month, year after year, until you
have 10 or more monthly checks coming to you
each month. There's no life like it!

....

0 My First Affiliate Check Was $5

You always remember your first online affiliate
income or check. Mine was for $5 dollars
and it was from Internet Marketing Center
which was then run by the late Corey Rudl.

I can also remember my brother laughing,
you're going to make your living at that?
But the last laugh is on me and I am not
finished yet!

Anyway, if you're a new comer to all this
online stuff and want to find out more.
Here's a video from Derek Gehl who took over
CEO of IM Center after Corey died in a
car crash in 2005.

Lots of good pointers here... you will have
to give your email address but its probably
worth it.

o Automatic Online Income - Myth or Fact?

Sometimes I have to really pinch myself to
make sure this is all real. Well, not really,
but my whole online marketing ventures has an
"unreal" feel to it.

Mainly because in the back of my mind when I started
on the web, 9 or 10 years ago - I didn't believe
anyone could make a living from the net - let
alone me. I was a Grade A Certified Skeptic living
on a remote rock in the North Atlantic.

Trust me, I am nothing special. A substitute teacher
and artist who was looking to top up his meager
income with some part-time work on the Internet.

What happened really surprised me more than anything.

I succeeded in reaching my goal and then some.
My goal was to make a $1000 a month online from
my sites. No need to be greedy, I just wanted
to supplement my other working incomes.

Now I sometimes make that amount in a day. Not many
mind you, but those days have been increasing...
however that is not the surprising part.

The real shocker is this: there hasn't been a day
in the last three years that I haven't made at
least some money online each day. Steady, constant
and automatic.

Now, I won't lie to you, I sometimes work at
this Internet stuff... 15 or 17 hours aday but
that's mostly because I enjoy it so much. You do
have to put in some time and sweat in order to
create all these income streams - at least this
has been my experience. However, once you set-up
your online sites and income streams - you don't
have to work at it much.

I have taken vacations, whole weeks and even
months off - and the income is still there, flowing
in each day. Any special family occasion I can
attend, any event where I need to be, I can go...
this is probably one of the best benefits of
working online... I am not tied down to a job or
a routine. I am my own boss.

The freedom is totally liberating.

Anyway, for me, an automatic online income is
a fact. Hope you can also make it a reality for
you too. The rewards are worth it.

o Ken Evoy's "Make Your Words Sell" Now Free

One of the major factors in my being able to earn
a living online has been this Guy's Products.
The amount of information and online knowledge
I have learned from Ken Evoy has been extremely
helpful to me in reaching my goals.

The whole suite of FREE SiteSell guides are (in my
opinion) still the best online training you can
receive. Unless you want to spend $797 per month
for StomperNet which is a great deal if you can
afford it but most beginners can't.

I told you last week that Ken Evoy's "Make Your
Words Sell" is now also free. You can download it
and many other SiteSell manuals here:

o Happy Memorial Day Weekend

For those in the States, I hope you have
a great and safe Memorial Day Weekend.
Feels like the start of summer!

How To Check Google's Supplemental Index

BWMagic's Web Marketing News!

Contents:

o What is Your Income Source?

o How To Check Google's Supplemental Index For Your Pages?

o Marketing Tip: Add the AddThis Button to Your Site

......

o What is Your Income Source?

As someone who is earning a good living from my web
sites I try to do everything I possibly can to improve
these sites. It simply means more checks in the mail
and more trips to the bank.

I especially keep my eyes peeled to Google. Mainly
because it is directly or indirectly responsible for
80% of my trips to the bank!

Google is my main source of earnings. Number #1 ranked
keywords and traffic from Google are responsible for
most of it. Then I tie in content linked to affiliate
products from Commission Junction, LinkShare, AffiliateWindow,
Shareasale, Amazon, LinkConnector, ClickBank...

I find myself moving more and more away from Information
(How-To) products, and marketing more business services
and luxury items. I also sell some very common everyday
items from my websites.

Although I am using 100's of affiliate programs and
products - my original source of income is Google.
Without traffic there are no sales.

I never forget that fact. I must try and keep in touch
with everything Google is doing. And apply most of my
limited time to my true source of my online living.

What about you? Have you evern sat down and figure out
the main source of your online income?

Different marketers have different techniques, some
use Pay-Per-Click advertising and buy their traffic.
Some marketers build large opt-in lists and use these
as their main bread-winners. The real smart marketers
produce their own products and recruit other affiliates
to promote and sell their products.

You must narrow down your main source of income and
focus the majority of your energies on it. Might sound
pretty obvious but are you really doing that each day????

....

o Google's Supplemental Index

Lately, as my ongoing obession with Google takes
full bloom, (main reason explained above) I have been
looking very closely at Google's Supplemental Index.

Google takes pages which it judges to be less important
and places them in a Supplemental Index. It is really
saying they don't trust these pages as much as those
in its main Index.

Google's Supplemental Index is not new. It goes way
back to 2003!

But lately Google seems to putting more emphasis on
the Supplemental Index and placing more pages there.
One can only guess, but it may have to do with improving
their SERPs - the more relevant their search results
become, the higher quality their flagship product will
achieve.

Regarless, you don't want your pages in this Supplemental
Index unless they are really unimportant pages (are there
any such things?) on your site.

---------------------------------------------
How To Check Google's Supplemental Index
---------------------------------------------

To check the Google's Supplementa Index for
pages on your own site, you can do this:

Go to Google search and type in:

site:www.yoursite.com *** -sjpked

replacing 'yoursite' with your domain/site
to see what pages are indexed in Google's
Supplemental Index.

Mostly you will see any duplicated content or pages,
plus you may see some really old pages. What you don't
want to see are your main important pages listed in
this supplemental index.

If you see any important pages there - you should
check your whole linking structure of your site.
Are these pages linked properly? Are they orphaned?
Are they well positioned in your internal site
architecture?

---------------------------------------------------
How To Calculate Your Supplemental Index Ratio
---------------------------------------------------

You can get your percentage of Supplemental results
by dividing the number of pages in the supplemental
index by the total number of pages in the main index.

site:www.yoursite.com *** -sjpked
___________________________________
site:www.yoursite.com

This will give you a good indication of the overall
health of your site. If you have too high a ratio
or too many pages in the supplemental index - fix
your site's linking structure and remove duplicate
content. Make sure any robots can crawl all of
your pages or the ones you want them to crawl.

It is always a good practice to keep on the good
side of Google. Don't do anything to bring unneeded
attention to your site.

...

o Marketing Tip: Add the AddThis Button to Your Site

One way you can keep your site competitive and in
the game is to fully embrace all the new social media
sites. These sites will be the traffic hubs of
the Internet. You must get your site tangled up
and connected to these traffic hubs or your site
will suffer.

Don't know what these social bookmarking sites are?

Just click this link and you will see a whole list
of these sites:

AddThis Social Bookmark Button

http://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php

Now you can place the very convenient AddThis
button to all your webpages and make it easy
for your visitors to bookmark your site.

Sometimes the simple stuff is what works the best!

...

Much Success,

Titus Hoskins

P.S. I have found one of the best ways to
succeed on the web is by providing helpful
information to others. No reason why you
can't do the same!
