o Into The Mix - YouTube, MySpace, FaceBook...

First, you have to realize the web is changing
at a blistering rate... just look at those
social media sites above, a few years ago
none of these sites existed.

Now they are the top-ranked sites in the world.

If you have a website or are marketing on the
net you must keep up with what's happening.
These social bookmark or media sites have
been become extremely important if you want
to stay in the mix.

You must tie-in or connect your site or sites
to these top-ranked social media sites. For
SEO linking reasons if nothing else... I believe
Google will favor these 'community/run/voted'
sites more and more in their index rankings.

Why do I think this?

From first-hand experience, let me explain,
if you go to google and type in "Internet
Facts" - you will see my site in the #1 spot.

Now, "internet facts" is not one of my
targeted keywords but awhile back this
page on my site was 'socially bookmarked'
in Digg by one of my site's visitors.

I had over 70,000 visitors to my site
in one day. Now this traffic from a marketing
point of view was rather worthless -
very temporary and fleeting.

But what I didn't realize at the time - how
important these social bookmark links
are to your search engine rankings... it's
over 3 months later and my site is still
number #1 for that keyword.

It points out the growing importance of
these social media sites in your overall
rankings in the search engines - or at
least in Google which is the main one.

Don't ignore these social bookmark sites
or you might regret it later on down the
road when these sites become even more
important.

o Is Social Network Marketing For You?

Since I have been exploring these types
of sites - I try to find the quality ones.
Ones that I am proud to be a member of...
no it's MySpace or FaceBook, although
I am member of those too!

One site that I am exploring the whole
social networking and social marketing
topic with is SelfGrowth.com - this site
is run by David Riklan and is "the # 1 Ranked
website for Self Improvement on the Internet,
getting over 1 Million visitors per month."

David and SelfGrowth are building a whole
network of experts... people who are experts
in their different fields. Most of us
are experts at something in our lives...
most of us have a special hobby or interest
that we know more about than the person sitting
next to us. It's an unwritten fact of life!

If you feel you are an expert in a subject
than you should have a look at SelfGrowth.

SelfGrowth.com

Once accepted as an expert you can create
your own "Expert Page" and start building
your social network of like-minded people.

You can link to your sites, products,
newsletters... etc.

My own page is here:

http://selfgrowth.com/experts/titus_hoskins.html

SelfGrowth has over 3000 experts and this
number is growing fast... I recommend you
give it a try. Keep thinking ahead. Always.

o Social Media Tactics That Work For Me

Getting involved with these 'Social Bookmark'
sites can be really easy. One tactic that
has worked wonders for my traffic and
rankings is a simple 'Bookmark' tool
offered thru Addthis.com

You just put their Social Bookmark button
on your pages or content - let your
visitors bookmark and build links for you!

Get the free bookmark button here:

Addthis.com

Another good site that has worked for me
is BlogRush - you join a network of
blogs that let you display your postings
on other people's blogs. Exchanging links.

This site is run by John Reese and the
quality is excellent. If you have a
popular blog - this is a great way of
making it more popular.

Join this blog network here:

Perhaps the simplest tactic to use -
just make sure you join all these
social media or network sites. They
don't cost anything... and they work.

Get a MySpace account, get a FaceBook
account... try out and use Digg, Reddit,
Squidoo...

Keep thinking ahead. Always.

Hope this helps!

o Getting Instant Listings In Google

Getting your pages and content listed in Google's
index is vital to your online success. That's why
I am devoting all of this newsletter to this subject.

First, you must understand how important getting
your pages into Google really is? Many people don't
know why Google carries such heavy weight in the
online search market.

Recent surveys have put Google's share of the
total world's online search at around 55%. But in
the important U.S. market it is now at around 65%
and for those marketing their products in the
States that's extremely important.

Those webmasters who have number #1 listings for
their keywords in all three major search engines
Yahoo!, MSN and Google - will tell you Google sends
by far the most traffic.

In other words if you want massive traffic for
your keywords you must get top listings in Google.

Why is this?

If you check with Alexa you will see that Yahoo!
and MSN are listed along with Google as the Top
Five most visited sites in the world. But what
you have to understand that all of Google's traffic
is search traffic (unlike the other two's traffic).

Google dominates the search market, in some countries
their share is as high as 90%. Keep in mind, Google
is also important because the surfing public respects
and trusts Google. If you want buying customers,
this is vital to your success.

You must get your pages listed in Google search, the
closer to the number #1 spot the better. Thankfully,
getting your pages and keywords listed or indexed
in Google is not difficult. In fact it is extremely
easy to do and anyone can do it.

Google has changed how they do business.

You must understand Google is constantly changing
and recently their index listings have been changing
daily. Once they would only update their index every
4 or 5 months - now it is almost happening instantly.

Here's just one example of how I know this:

Google has placed a lot of importance on social
bookmark traffic. Anything submitted to these
social bookmark sites such as Digg, Propeller,
Delicious... the so-called Web 2.0 trend... are
indexed almost instantly.

For example, I usually place this newsletter in
my online Blogger.com (www.bizwaremagic.blogspot.com)
blog and it is instantly indexed by Google.
Granted Blogger is owned by Google but this
works with any blog.

How do I know it gets indexed in Google?

I use Google Alerts which tells me when my
site appears in the Google Index.
http://www.google.com/alerts

Here is how you can your content spidered
and indexed by Google.

First make sure your site has Blog and RSS
feed. I use the free WordPress software to
place at least one blog on all my sites.

Once you have a blog, first make a post to it
containing your targeted keywords. And second,
submit a small part of your post to sites like
Digg and Propeller. Bookmark your post in sites
like Delicious and Reddit. Finally, you ping the
bookmark RSS feeds with sites like Pingomatic
and Autopinger.

Simple and effective way to get your pages
and keywords spidered and indexed in Google.

If all this sounds a bit complicated and you're
scratching your head???

Another easlier way I found to do all the above
steps is to let your visitors do it for you!

Late last year, I started adding the free simple
social bookmark tool supplied by Addthis.com
This social bookmark button lets your visitors
bookmark your content (pages) in all the
social sites for you. This method is slower
and your content must be good enough so your
visitors would want to share it with others.

I have received hundreds of listings in the
different sites and one of my pages was even
make it to the front page of Digg - resulting
in 70,000 visitors to my site in one day.

As Google places more and more importance on
the whole social bookmarketing scene... you
must get your site or sites into this mix.
Your site will be constantly spidered and
indexed.

So to recap here are some of the sites and
free tools you will need to take advantage
of the social bookmarking sites and to get
Google to instantly index your site. (Mone
of these are affiliate links or try to sell
you something!)

To place a blog and RSS feed on your site use:

http://wwww.wordpress.com
http://www.blogger.com

To place a social bookmark button on yoursite use:

http://www.addthis.com

To ping your RSS feeds and blogs use:

http://www.pingomatic.com
http://www.autopinger.com

If you're totally new or confused about
the whole RSS/Blog system explained above
you might want to download my simple
RSS report:

RSS Report and Guide

Finally, how to know when your new pages or
site receives new listings in Google:

http://www.google.com/alerts

I Hope you will try these simple steps I have explained
above and get your own content or keywords listed
in Google almost immediately.

o Is Social BookMark Traffic Useless?

Over the last few months I have been closely
studying Social BookMark Traffic. It has really
opened my eyes to a lot of marketing opportunities
that really never existed for my sites before now.

Social bookmark traffic comes from such popular
sites as Slashdot, Digg, Stumbleupon... basically
these sites are driven by their users - that is,
users or members pick and bookmark the content they
want to view and discuss.

This content can come from any site on the web -
including yours.

Getting your site or content featured on the front
page of these sites can drive 100,000's visitors
to your site immediately. So much traffic that
it may sometimes overtax your server and crash it.

So be warned, if you're actively promoting to these
social bookmark sites just make sure your servers or
web hosting is up to the demanding task of handling
all these sudden visitors.

One common problem with traffic from these
sites - it's very temporary traffic. The high
volume will only last a few days... until your
item is moved back from the front page.

These visitors will not stay on your site long
and most are gone within seconds, never to be
seen again. A few may sign-up to your newsletter
or venture to other areas of your site but
not many.

Social bookmark traffic is very fleeting, like
customers in the drive-thru section in a fast
food chain, they grab the content and surf back
to the major linking site very quickly and surf
on to the next item.

This traffic will behave very differently than
organic traffic from the search engines, or from
your newsletter traffic or from those in your
marketing funnels.

So the question remains - is social bookmark traffic
useless?

First, you must realize no traffic is useless,
any visitors to your site is a good thing. Without
traffic your site is useless, just a few files
sitting on a server in the middle of nowhere.

Obtaining visitors is one of your first objective
as a webmaster. You have to get visitors to your
site or it's game over.

The best kind of traffic is traffic coming from
organic search, visitors who come from the search
engines seeking exactly what you're offering on
your site. These are targeted visitors who will
consider your offer, real your information,
maybe buy a product or sign-up to your newsletter
or follow-up system. They often become repeat
visitors to your site.

These are your ideal visitors. This is the kind
of traffic your want.

Social bookmark and social media traffic is
different but it does have some saving graces.
Mainly it can help expose your site to millions
and brand your site or business. It can get the
word out about your site. Start a buzz.

These social sites are good for another reason,
getting your links on all these high traffic,
high PR7 and PR8 sites doesn't hurt your
search engine rankings.

Since many of these visitors will be using
the Firefox browser which has the Alexa toolbar
embedded - your site's traffic rank will
increase. Everyone knows Alexa traffic
rankings are not a true picture of the
web's traffic but it's a good measuring
stick, nonetheless.

Google might even consider it when ranking
your site. Google which basically considers
their whole indexing system as a democratic voting
structure... sites give a vote by linking to
your content. Then wouldn't getting a lot of
traffic or being featured on a site like Digg
where the users vote to propel the best content
to the front be the ultimate vote.

Keep in mind, all traffic from these social
media sites can't be judged with one brush.
Recently I had one page on my site featured
on the front page of many of these sites,
Digg, Mentalfloss, Fark, Stumbleupon...

I use Google Analytics to examine all my
traffic. It pointed out some very interesting
factors about this social bookmark traffic.
Most of it will simply bounce back, very few
visitors will spend much time on your site.
Very few visitors will even venture into your
site, sign-up to your newsletter or enter into
your marketing funnels.

For me getting an article featured on these bookmark
sites was very discouraging and not a pleasant
experience at all. Mainly because my content
was very poor - it was an old article from
two years ago with outdated stats and facts
about the web. Not really an article - just
a list of simple things about the net - meant
to be taken more as a joke than anything
serious. Why it was even featured is still
a puzzle!

Unlike getting one of my articles featured
in Addme or SiteProNews where I can easily
get 200 or 300 new subscribers in a day.
Plus, these visitors are interested in
my information and have been exposed to my
content (article) before coming to my site.

So there's no comparison, I would take the
traffic from these sites any day over traffic
from social bookmark sites. And I would
take free organic traffic from the search
over any other source of traffic including
PPC advertising.

One strange thing I did notice, for some reason
the traffic from Stumbleupon was different.
These visitors stayed longer on my site
and reacted more like organic traffic.

So I am not drawing any conclusions yet.

Nor am I put off by one bad experience,
you really have to get your hands dirty
and dive into these sites to really study
them. Old artist in me coming out - I guess!

Besides maybe there are other social sites
like Stumbleupon so I have to seek them out
and examine them first hand.

Hopefully, I will have further chances to study
traffic from these social sites and get the
long-term effects, especially in regards to
my rankings in the search engines.

But for now I will give an open mind but the
jury is still way out whether or not social
bookmark traffic is worth the interruption
to the daily marketing tasks of your site.

.....

1. Social Bookmarking

Regardless of my views on the matter, you should
be actively promoting your site and content
to the Social Bookmarking sites.

One simple way to do this is to do exactly what
I did. I simply put the free Addthis.com bookmark
on my content and site.

Folks, as you can see for above, it works.

Only takes a minute to join and few more to put
the code on your webpages.

http://www.addthis.com/

....

4. Peel Away Ads

Seems like I am plugging this "Peel Away Ads" tool
way too much. But like the social bookmark above
this one also works.

It will get people to read your ads and many will
click thru to your offer or sign-up form.

This really has to be seen to fully understand
how it works. So see for yourself:

How To Check Google's Supplemental Index

BWMagic's Web Marketing News!

Contents:

o What is Your Income Source?

o How To Check Google's Supplemental Index For Your Pages?

o Marketing Tip: Add the AddThis Button to Your Site

......

o What is Your Income Source?

As someone who is earning a good living from my web
sites I try to do everything I possibly can to improve
these sites. It simply means more checks in the mail
and more trips to the bank.

I especially keep my eyes peeled to Google. Mainly
because it is directly or indirectly responsible for
80% of my trips to the bank!

Google is my main source of earnings. Number #1 ranked
keywords and traffic from Google are responsible for
most of it. Then I tie in content linked to affiliate
products from Commission Junction, LinkShare, AffiliateWindow,
Shareasale, Amazon, LinkConnector, ClickBank...

I find myself moving more and more away from Information
(How-To) products, and marketing more business services
and luxury items. I also sell some very common everyday
items from my websites.

Although I am using 100's of affiliate programs and
products - my original source of income is Google.
Without traffic there are no sales.

I never forget that fact. I must try and keep in touch
with everything Google is doing. And apply most of my
limited time to my true source of my online living.

What about you? Have you evern sat down and figure out
the main source of your online income?

Different marketers have different techniques, some
use Pay-Per-Click advertising and buy their traffic.
Some marketers build large opt-in lists and use these
as their main bread-winners. The real smart marketers
produce their own products and recruit other affiliates
to promote and sell their products.

You must narrow down your main source of income and
focus the majority of your energies on it. Might sound
pretty obvious but are you really doing that each day????

....

o Google's Supplemental Index

Lately, as my ongoing obession with Google takes
full bloom, (main reason explained above) I have been
looking very closely at Google's Supplemental Index.

Google takes pages which it judges to be less important
and places them in a Supplemental Index. It is really
saying they don't trust these pages as much as those
in its main Index.

Google's Supplemental Index is not new. It goes way
back to 2003!

But lately Google seems to putting more emphasis on
the Supplemental Index and placing more pages there.
One can only guess, but it may have to do with improving
their SERPs - the more relevant their search results
become, the higher quality their flagship product will
achieve.

Regarless, you don't want your pages in this Supplemental
Index unless they are really unimportant pages (are there
any such things?) on your site.

---------------------------------------------
How To Check Google's Supplemental Index
---------------------------------------------

To check the Google's Supplementa Index for
pages on your own site, you can do this:

Go to Google search and type in:

site:www.yoursite.com *** -sjpked

replacing 'yoursite' with your domain/site
to see what pages are indexed in Google's
Supplemental Index.

Mostly you will see any duplicated content or pages,
plus you may see some really old pages. What you don't
want to see are your main important pages listed in
this supplemental index.

If you see any important pages there - you should
check your whole linking structure of your site.
Are these pages linked properly? Are they orphaned?
Are they well positioned in your internal site
architecture?

---------------------------------------------------
How To Calculate Your Supplemental Index Ratio
---------------------------------------------------

You can get your percentage of Supplemental results
by dividing the number of pages in the supplemental
index by the total number of pages in the main index.

site:www.yoursite.com *** -sjpked
___________________________________
site:www.yoursite.com

This will give you a good indication of the overall
health of your site. If you have too high a ratio
or too many pages in the supplemental index - fix
your site's linking structure and remove duplicate
content. Make sure any robots can crawl all of
your pages or the ones you want them to crawl.

It is always a good practice to keep on the good
side of Google. Don't do anything to bring unneeded
attention to your site.

...

o Marketing Tip: Add the AddThis Button to Your Site

One way you can keep your site competitive and in
the game is to fully embrace all the new social media
sites. These sites will be the traffic hubs of
the Internet. You must get your site tangled up
and connected to these traffic hubs or your site
will suffer.

Don't know what these social bookmarking sites are?

Just click this link and you will see a whole list
of these sites:

AddThis Social Bookmark Button

http://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php

Now you can place the very convenient AddThis
button to all your webpages and make it easy
for your visitors to bookmark your site.

Sometimes the simple stuff is what works the best!

...

Much Success,

Titus Hoskins

succeed on the web is by providing helpful
